Blog Tour & Giveaway: Finding ELE by Rebecca Gober & Courtney Nuckels

I received a copy of Finding ELE, the sequel to Project ELE and book 2 of the ELE series, in exchange for my review.

After the events of Project ELE, Willow is on the outside, but even better than that, she has been reunited with her mother and brother. Though overjoyed by their reunion, and by the friendship of the handsome Tony, Willow can't help but worry about her friends, Claire and Connor, and her boyfriend, Alec, who is still missing. While hunting for them, she learns about life outside, and about the Reapers, people who took the red shot and lost their humanity.

Things have certainly heated up! There was much more of the sci-fi tone going on in Finding ELE than in the first one, especially with all the powers that are being exhibited. Willow's suspicions about the various injections causing powers are confirmed, but the effects of the red injection couldn't have been expected. What is created instead is a zombie like race, apart from their aren't like any zombies I've ever read about (or watched for that matter), they are still alive, but smart and still retain their memories...making them a particularly dangerous foe.

Other than the Reapers (who all took both injections, and so have the super powers associated with both), Willow remains the only person who is able to manifest more than one power (for the record I am predicting that there will be a total of 12 powers...could be wrong but that is my hunch - go back to Zack and Willow in the lab in book 1!). Willow is quickly becoming a little over powerful, as some characters can tend to be, but she hasn't let it go to her head, and she still retains her compassionate heart.

The romance has also got just a tad more complicated, with the introduction of Tony, who Willow spends quite a bit of time with as he is her trainer. Though she finds it difficult to accept, there is definitely a spark of something there between them, but that doesn't stop her loving Alec, making this a pretty decisive heroine...for now at least!

There were a lot of 'I love you's said in this book, though to be honest if I'd been separated from my Mum and little brother for 4 months I would probably tell them as much as I could. And whenever Sebastian told Willow he loved her it tugs on my heart strings! (My own little brother still softens the r to a w sound in my name! And still tells me he loves me!). It was also refreshing to see a teenage girl with a good relationship with her mother. So often those relationships get lost in the plot, or are described as bad in the plot, and it was good to see a normal mother - daughter relationship in the storyline.

Also - thank goodness for the eye colour to power chart! I got a few down but not all of them!

Millions have already died, and thousands more are perishing daily. As a last ditch effort to preserve the human race, the government implements Project ELE. With the earth heating at rapid speeds, all remaining survivors are forced to turn to F.E.M.A. shelters to wait out ELE's wrath.

Fifteen-year-old Willow Mosby's life, as she knows it, ends the moment she walks through the shelter's door. Willow has to quickly adapt to the new challenges that shelter life demands, which includes making new friends and working a full time job.

Soon after making an interesting discovery, Willow and her friends start exhibiting strange abilities. Seeking answers, they embark on a mission to find out what these new abilities mean and whether they are a gift or a curse.

This new adventure can send her world crashing down around her. The question is: Can Willow survive the fall?

From the best selling authors of Night Marchers comes a new apocalyptic series with a paranormal twist.

GUEST POST- AWESOME POWERS

If you had the power to choose any power you would want, which power would that be? In The ELE Series, the characters didn't get to choose the powers they would develop. Instead, someone decided for them. The fact remains though, that in a future world years after Project ELE ends, citizens might very well have the ability to choose their own power. How would you choose? Based on a power that would work best for your personality? Perhaps even based on your preferred eye color? Below you will find the author's personal choices. We encourage you to comment on this blog post to share with us what choice you would make.

Rebecca Gober- I would choose gold- the power of telekinesis. How could would it be to be able to pick up objects or even people with your own mind. Or throw a tantrum and rip a tree up out of the ground and hurl it against a wall. (I don't condone the senseless abuse of trees, but the act would make for quite a dramatic show.) Now, if I were to choose my eye color based on vanity alone, I'd pick purple eyes. Gold eyes are cool, but I've always thought purple eyes would be neat to have.

Courtney Nuckels- I would choose dark blue- the power to heal. Having dealt with my own personal health battles and seeing loved ones around me that go through similar battles, I'd want to be able to have the ability to heal them. I have a passion for helping others and this ability would work perfectly with my passion. If I did get to choose a color based on vanity only, I'd pick purple. Now Rebecca, get out of my head! (If you haven't seen many of our other posts, we tend to have a very similar mind set, which of course makes us great writing partners. So it really doesn't surprise me that she picked the same color.)

Check out the below eye color chart and comment with your choice and why!
