Blog Tour: The Matchmaking Pact by Bonnie Dee

I received a copy of The Matchmaking Pact in exchange for my review.

Corinne and Seth are neighbours, and make a pact that they will ask out the respective people that they are crushing on, and if it goes badly they'll set each other up with someone they think could be perfect for them. A girl's night with Tara, Ayda and Graci on the night of Seth's date leaves ideas in Corinne's head about whether her affirmation that her and Seth are just friends is actually true or not. Add to that the drama surrounding Ayda and Bree's wedding venue collapsing and Corinne has a lot of things to deal with.

You don't have to have read books 1 & 2 (The Seduction Vow and The Temporary Promise) to read The Matchmaking Pact but they're all good so I don't know why you wouldn't! All three of the books have the romantic comedy cliches that you can kind of expect, but ultimately Dee carries them off with a panache that somehow makes them have originality, probably because of the emphasis on friendship that comes with the story.

I must admit there were some FINALLY moments in this book. I now know what happened to Ayda (kind of) but I suspect there'll be more in the next book about what went on there, but also Corinne visited Bree, so she became more solid than a computer screen. It was good to get an insight to the woman that was mentioned in the very first scene of book 1.

There was also more substance to Corinne, who up until then had just been the confident friend that was there, rather than the funny woman with some peculiar habits. The story did overlap though so at the beginning Corinne didn't know about Tara and Luis (book 2) which I think was happening concurrently to the story.

I don't know about to other readers, but it was pretty evident to me that this was going to be a best friends don't actually realise they actually like each other story, mainly because Seth and Corinne has the chemistry going from the off (and the way she was reacting to his texts...). They had a friendship going that was very easy to see going further!

I've really enjoyed the first three books in this series, its a shame that the next one isn't out yet though!

about author
Bonnie Dee began telling stories as a child. Whenever there was a sleepover, she was the designated ghost tale teller, guaranteed to frighten and thrill with macabre tales. She still has a story printed on yellow legal paper in second grade about a ghost, a witch and a talking cat. Writing childish stories for her own pleasure led to majoring in English at college. Like most English majors, she dreamed of writing a novel, but didn't have the necessary focus and follow through at that time in her life. A husband, children and work occupied the next twenty years and it was only in 2000 that she began writing again. Bonnie enjoys reading stories about people damaged by life who find healing with a like-minded soul. When she couldn't find enough books to suit her taste, she began to write them.
