Blog Tour & Giveaway: Vampire Lies by RaShelle Workman

I received a copy of Vampire Lies, book 1 of Season 2 of Blood and Snow in exchange for my review.

Jasmine has known that she is different her whole life, as the daughter of the Vampire Queen Snow White and Dorian, she is the only vampire in existence that has wings. And now Jasmine is fed up. Finding Laeddin in a cave she discovers that he is a genie and that he is her servant to choose grant her three wishes. Knowing what she wants, Jasmine wishes that she could live in the human world and be a normal human 16 year old. But when her wish is granted Jasmine discovers that maybe normal isn't quite what she thought it was, and her world has followed her. Worse still, she now knows that Laeddin is in danger, and her attraction to him won't let her ignore that.

Well that certainly wasn't where I expected that to go! And you would think that after being consistently surprised by Blood and Snow I would have learnt not to speculate about this book! As you can probably guess from that statement, Vampire Lies had a few surprises and plot twists that really made the pages turn...including the ending which was actually kind of devastating and I want to know more already!

One of the biggest shocks was Gatsby, Snow's cat from the previous book, who is now Jasmine's cat I guess. When  he turned up I got excited that he was still around (this is about 16 years later) but then he shocked me well and truly. Now I just want to know more about him and if he is actually something like Abernathy.

One thing that I noticed about Jasmine's inner monologue was that actually it was very similar to her mother's in the previous book (not the same mind you and the differences were marked enough to notice) and I do believe that part of that is to show that they aren't actually all that different. To the reader, to Snow and to Jasmine.

It was good to have the update on the characters that were involved in Blood and Snow, as well as being introduced to some new ones...I have my eye on Troy, I think there's a story there. Cam was also introduced, and I'm toying with the idea that he may end up Jasmine's Dorian, but then again he may not. And then there was Zoe and Peter (whose identity has kind of been revealed and I worked out before anyway!).

Just as with Blood and Snow this story was engaging and really drew me in...plus I really want to know what happens in the end!

Genre: YA Fractured Fairytale
Blood and Snow Season 2
Book 1 ~ Vampire Lies

*** Eyes like violet sapphires. Wings of smoldering fire. Consume your true love’s blood. Become the Eternal Vampire. ***

Once upon a time there lived a vampire with wings and the genie who loved her…

Born of the seven magics, Jasmine is different in every way, including the obnoxious wings on her back courtesy of the original Vampires. She wants to be normal, to be a regular teenaged girl.

When a gorgeous dark-haired boy named Laeddin shows up and promises to sneak her away from all her problems and hide her in the human world, she agrees.

But an evil lurks in her nightmares, a man with red eyes. It doesn’t take long for Jasmine to realize that no matter how far she tries to run from who she is, he’s only a dream away. He wants her. He needs her. He acts as though he loves her.

It’s becoming harder and harder to tell the difference between the path that’ll lead to her happily ever after, and the path that’ll lead to her destruction as well as all magic.
