Even after seeing two of his younger brothers, Wes and Luke, fall in love, Pierce Braden doesn't think that it will be his turn. One night, by chance, he runs into Rebecca Rivera and even he can't deny that his life has changed forever. Coping with the death of her mother, Rebecca is determined, and no man is going to have to save her. But when a few chance meetings lead to her kissing Pierce, she can't help but admit that it would be nice to have someone. With both Pierce and Rebecca being strong characters, who like to be in control, their relationship will take work, though that's work that they're both willing to put in. Falling for each other never seemed to be an option, instead it seemed to be an inevitability.
I love this series! Even though the last book I read from the Love in Bloom series was actually a Seaside book rather than a Braden book, I couldn't help but notice the tone difference from the others. Seaside was a completely different tone anyway (which I loved!) but Romancing My Love also seemed to take on a different tone to the other Braden books, which I think is a lot to do with the setting and with the personality of Pierce.
There was a lot more revealed about the Braden children's missing father in this book as Pierce is the oldest and remembers the events. And though it was hard not to, I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him (made worse by the fact that I can relate). Saying that, pity was a recurring theme in the book, particularly because Rebecca hated the idea of anyone pitying her and wouldn't let anyone close for that reason. This did create some tension between her and Pierce as he wanted to be able to do things for her and she saw that as pity.
The relationship between the two characters developed slowly. Though physically they were very in tune, rather quickly, the understanding and the love for each other seemed to grow as the book progressed, til it was something comfortable and very believable at the end.
The importance of family was another important theme in the book, with Pierce taking calls from various family members throughout the book, as well as meeting one of them for dinner. There was also a chance to see all of the Bradens in the same place, which has always seemed to be interesting.
This has been another great story of the Braden siblings, though I feel sorry for Emily and hope it's her turn fairly soon! I can't wait to see where the series goes next!
