Avery has no time for any obsession, let alone with his obsession for Emeline, an obsession that he doesn't realise works both ways. Charged with following Avery by the mysterious Order in the past, Emeline now has to drag him in for their leader, Ridley. But Ridley has got herself involved in something much darker than even she imagined. With Alamut still at large, and Roman still wanting revenge on his twin, Reign, the easy path is not an option...
This series has been full of action, intrigue and a detailed mythology that captures the attention of the reader. There's an edge of thriller about it which is woven into the story in a way that has you sitting on the edge of your seat.
One of the main things that struck me was how long the two main characters, the ones that were cleaely meant to be together, actually spent apart at the beginning of the book. Whereas the other couples had sort of been forced into close proximety, Avery and Emeline sort of admired from afar in a not quite harmless way. It added to the story and let the other characters take a bit of a centre stage for a while.
I really liked the fact that Emeline could take care of herself, both physically and to some extent magically. To be honest both Stella and Alexis did the same in the previous books, but I do particularly like the fact that the women in these books work with their men and are accepted by their men for who they are.
I've really enjoyed The Descendants of Ra books so far, they twist all the elements of the story together perfectly!
