Condemened to the ES Siren, and the new settlement of Solitaire, for a crime that she didn't commit, Lucinda has been admiring pilot Jarred from afar. Little does Lucinda know that Jarred has been admiring her as well, and the only thing keeping him back is the mystery surrounding his missing wife, kindnapped 3 years ago.
Mine to Serve was enjoyable, but didn't actually feel quite as in depth as the other books. Without the background of the first 5 books, this could have happened in any genre at any time. Saying that, sometimes there are events that have to be set up for, so it could all become clearer in the next set of books! There were little links back to the previous books though, which helped with the story and the series.
Lucinda was pretty normal as far as heroines go. She had the same insecurities as many normal women have, including that they are the consolation prize or the second best. It was definitely intreresting seeing a woman feeling like that, whereas normally they think/know they are better.
The romance between Jarred and Lucinda all happened rather quickly, though at the beginning it had been said that they had both been stealing glances at each other since they first borded the ES Siren (which was at least 6 months previously) so I guess it could be seen as a longer romance. Though Jarred's present was super cute considering Lucinda's position as a prisoner.
The issue of Jarred's wife was dealt with interestingly. When her existance was first mentioned I did wonder how that was going to work out. Honestly though, I didn't expect the resolution to appear like it did. Nor for that story arc to end quite like that!
This was a good addition to the series! I look forward to more!
