Synopsis (from Goodreads): Caught between destiny and desire...After diving into a black hole in search of the source of Meridian, the key to immortality, the crew of the Blood Hunter finds themselves stranded in an alternate universe. Engineer Devlin Stark doesn't want immortality. He just wants to live long enough to get his revenge on the man who murdered his brother. Now, he's trapped in a strange world with a crazy woman who claims he's fated to be her lover. Saffira Lourdes has a destiny: to save humanity and lead her exiled people to the Promised Land. Haunted by visions of the past and future, she's been sustained through the years by a dream lover. Unfortunately, Devlin doesn't believe in fate. But it's obvious there's a connection between them, one that will soon be tested by the limits of time and space. Saffira is about to make the crew of the Blood Hunter an offer they'll find impossible to refuse. They're heading back to Earth, and they're going back in time.
Its official. I'm addicted to this series. I'm really not sure how I'm going to cope once I finish Blood and Metal and have to wait for the sixth book in the series! Whilst each book is a stand alone romance, there are story arcs that cover multiple books, and I feel that having read the others gives you are more thorough feel for the world and for the other characters.
Saffira was definitely a new element, and she was involved in a massive twist which even though (looking back!) there were hints of, I had no idea was coming until a chapter or so before it happened. Even more interesting was the change in her character during the book. I liked that a lot but if I said anything else it would definitely count as a spoiler.
Saffira and Devlin's relationship was certainly interesting. She was certain that the two of them would come to love each other because of her visions, and he was certain that he would never commit to anyone, and that caused an almost antagonistic feel to their relationship at some points! But it worked for them.
This was a great read, and I'm excited to read Blood and Metal next!
